For the last five years we have been working closely with the Corporate Events team at St John WA, to deliver all graphic design requirements for their annual State Conference and connected events; such as an Awards Sundowner and Black Tie Ball.
We often share pictures of our work, but with large scale projects like this it can be hard to accurately portray the enormity of it all. Somehow just showing the end design doesn’t properly reflect all work that goes into it, behind-the-scenes.
So, with the 2019 Conference about to kick-off this week, we thought now would be the perfect time to share a little snapshot of what this project means for us and all the work involved.
The conference is always an exciting project with a large variety of design requirements and strict deadlines. The first step of the project is to create the branding/theme for that year’s event. This changes every year and therefore needs to look unique but still be easily recognisable as a St John event. Once the branding/theme has been locked in we develop a hero logo, supporting graphics, Powerpoint templates, signage and various printed documents, all of which are used throughout the course of the event.
Early July we start to receive the various briefs for the displays. During the event, each department within St John WA host their own exhibition stall within the conference venue and we supply the designs required by each of them. This normally averages out at 50 individual requests and involves a wide range of display graphics, such as (but not limited to):
- Large format wall panels - Posters - Flyers - Floor tiles - Pull-up banners - Booklets - Brochures - Tickets - Invitations - Illustrations
We liaise with the events team throughout the entire process to ensure all briefs are interpreted correctly and final artwork is delivered in time to meet print/production deadlines. This requires ensuring we are managing our workload correctly (including our other clients, who are still a top priority during this busy time!) so we can get all work out efficiently and still to a high quality. Having a solid understanding of the St John organisation and brand style helps us in achieving this.
In previous years, we have received glowing feedback from the client with regards to the service we have provided, something which we are incredibly proud of. But the biggest compliment of all is being asked to supply the design for the following year’s conference. So, it is with no small amount of exhilaration that we approach the launch of the 2019 Conference. We are not only excited to see the end result of months of work but we hope that once again we have exceeded our client’s expectations and allowed them to deliver an outstanding, unforgettable event.
